Snowsports Rookie Instructor
Applications for employment will be accepted from New Zealand or Australian residents/citizens (your resident/citizen status evidence will be required). Those on WHV or other visa status please complete the International Rookie Instructor Training programme application, also found on the NZSki employment website.

Upon successful completion of the programme, you will be interviewed for a position as rookie instructor for the school holidays.
As a rookie your contract with NZSki if offered will be a full-time fixed term contract. Hours during the winter vary depending on business levels but we aim to provide between 25 hours per week from the 29th of June to 13th of September. These hours may be offered in other departments such as F&B, lifts or rentals.
Your location will be based on needs of the business but will consider where your accommodation is. All our instructors are required to be available on both mountains so please take this into consideration.
You'll be
Joining a team of global professional instructors, trainers and coaches
Delivering a great guest experience in school ski/ride programmes and group lessons.
Progressing guests using NZSIA/SBINZ guidelines as guided by your Rookie Instructor Training programme trainers. .
Adaptable to an ever-changing environment. No day is ever the same on our mountains!
Part of our wider mountain team, you may be asked to help guests in rentals, F&B, meeting area setup or other.
Aware that work availability is subject to weather, snow conditions and business levels. We will aim to advise you 48 hours in advance of any changes to your schedule.
Skills and Attributes
Must be a citizen or resident of New Zealand or Australia. Please register under International Rookie Instructor Programme if you do not hold this status.
Must be confirmed by the course trainers as confident and competent and at the level to pass the Level 1 Ski or Ride exam.
