Job Description

He aha te turanga - About the role:

We are looking for two new volunteers to help operate our First Response Unit (FRU) ambulance in Waihi Beach!

The First Response Unit will operate in time-critical emergency incidents (i.e. a cardiac arrest) when a full-time ambulance is not immediately available. The FRU volunteers will be supplied with pagers and can choose whether or not they can respond. Volunteer crews will meet at the Station, take the FRU to the scene to and provide the critical patient care until further assistance arrives via our Automated Message System (AMS) App.

Support you can expect after joining our team

We will give you all the support and education needed to make you safe and effective in the field. This includes:

  • A two day Operations Induction course.
  • A two day Operations Risk Management course - designed to help you stay safe in the field
  • A two day Ambulance Driving course
  • A four day First Responder course which is designed to enable you to assess patients and manage immediately life threatening emergencies in the community.

At the completion of the courses you will be issued with a Level 3 New Zealand Certificate in Emergency Care (First Responder) and will hold the clinical practice level of First Responder.

Heroes Aren't Born - They Step Forward
You don't need to be a superhero to save lives. You just need the courage to show up.
Ordinary people become extraordinary when they answer the call - and that call could be for you.

We're offering a rare opportunity to join our elite volunteer ambulance team. Spots are limited - we're looking for those ready to rise to the challenge and make a real impact.

You'll be trained, supported, and part of a tight-knit crew that shows up when it matters most. Whether you're looking for purpose, growth, or a path into something new - it starts here.

Come for an observer shift. See what it's really like. You might discover the hero that's been in you all along.

The uniform isn't what makes a hero. The decision to act does. Are you ready? Are you local?
