OVERVIEW
Global contract logistics' company is seeking a Vice President, Business Development. In this role you will provide day-to-day leadership to the sales organization and ensure the team is aligned around revenue growth, customer acquisition, sales execution, and performance expectations.
DAY IN THE LIFE
Lead and manage the day-to-day activities of sales executives and sales management.
Execute the business unit's growth strategy in partnership with operations, product management, industry vertical leaders, and corporate business development.
Design and implement a strategic sales plan to expand the customer base and support consistent topline growth.
Manage the sales process through KPIs, CRM discipline, pipeline visibility, forecasting, activity tracking, and performance expectations.
Coach and develop sales team members to improve customer engagement, prospecting, solution selling, deal strategy, and close rates.
Partner with business unit leadership on recruiting, onboarding, objective setting, coaching, and performance monitoring of sales team members.
Drive customer acquisition across targeted industries while also supporting growth with existing customers.
Build and promote strong, long-lasting customer relationships directly and through the sales organization.
Ensure sales activity is aligned with operational capabilities, customer needs, and overall business unit strategy.
Work effectively in a complex, matrixed environment with senior leadership, operations, corporate business development, and overseas operating companies.
Provide fact-based recommendations to senior leadership to support growth, performance improvement, and strategic decision-making.
WHAT YOU BRING
Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Transportation, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field.
10+ years of sales or business development experience.
5+ years of experience managing outside sales employees and/or sales leaders.
5+ years of sales experience within logistics, supply chain, transportation, 3PL, contract logistics, or a related industry.
Proven ability to lead a sales organization through process, structure, coaching, accountability, and performance management.
Strong understanding of CRM usage, pipeline management, forecasting, KPI tracking, and sales performance expectations.
Ability to negotiate with customers and internal stakeholders to support business growth and close opportunities.
Strong business acumen, analytical thinking, and strategic problem-solving skills.
Ability to build trust, lead with integrity, and work cross-functionally in a high-performance culture.
Comfort working with limited direction in a complex and often ambiguous environment.
Ability to influence and collaborate with senior leadership, operations, business unit leaders, corporate teams, and international stakeholders.
