Korero mo te turanga - About the role
Te Herenga Waka-Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting for an experienced Kaiwhakaako - Teaching Fellow to join Te Puna Hauora - School of Health on a fixed-term, part-time (0.4 FTE) basis.
The Kaiwhakaako - Teaching Fellow will contribute to the delivery of HLWB 103, Human Biology for Health, in Trimester 2, 2026. This is an opportunity to join a committed teaching team and make a valuable contribution to a core first year undergraduate course.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead and support the delivery of HLWB 103, Human Biology for Health.
- Work with tutors to support effective course delivery.
- Moderate and mark assessments.
- Provide academic support for students outside formal teaching sessions.
- Attend course coordination meetings and other hui as required.

You will bring strong expertise in human biology, health sciences, or a closely related field, along with successful tertiary teaching experience and the confidence to make an effective contribution from day one.
Key requirements:
- A completed Master's or doctoral qualification in human biology, health sciences, or a closely related field, or equivalent qualifications and experience commensurate with the role.
- Demonstrated success in tertiary teaching in human biology, health sciences, or a closely related field.
- Demonstrated commitment to high-quality tertiary teaching and sound learning and teaching practice.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex ideas clearly.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively and independently with minimal supervision.
- Proven ability to build strong professional relationships.
- Proven ability to coordinate and manage groups effectively.
