This role sits within our Risk Consulting team in Auckland, partnering with large corporate and government clients to help them make smarter, more informed decisions about risk and insurance.

You won’t be ticking boxes or following a script — you’ll be:

• Breaking down complex business problems
• Quantifying risk and modelling potential outcomes
• Helping clients understand how risk impacts their bottom line
• Shaping smarter approaches to risk financing and insurance strategy

Key responsibilities:

Working alongside a highly experienced team, you’ll contribute to consulting projects where we:

• Analyse and quantify organisational risk exposure
• Build models to understand potential financial impacts and losses
• Provide insights that influence insurance strategy and risk financing decisions
• Help clients explore more effective and innovative ways to manage risk

This is consulting in the truest sense — client-facing, commercially focused, and genuinely impactful.

What we’re looking for

You might come from a background in consulting, analytics, finance, engineering (research-focused), or a similar problem-solving environment.

What matters most is that you:

Think analytically and solve problems

• You can break down complex problems into clear, logical steps
• You enjoy working with data to uncover insights and tell a story

Are commercially and financially curious

• You’re interested in how businesses operate, make money, and manage risk
• You can connect analysis back to real-world business outcomes

Have strong technical foundations

• Experience with tools like Excel, Python, SQL or similar
• Comfortable working with data, modelling and quantitative analysis

Can communicate with impact

• Able to translate complex analysis into clear, meaningful insights
• Confident engaging with stakeholders and clients

Bring curiosity and drive

• You’re eager to learn, grow and build your expertise in risk and insurance
• You ask questions, challenge thinking, and want to do great work

Experience & background

We’re typically looking for:

• Some with solid experience in a relevant analytical, consulting or commercial role
• A degree in a relevant field (e.g. finance, economics, engineering, maths, science or similar)
