About the Role (your why)

The Technical Lead - Data, AI and Analytics role is responsible for providing senior technical leadership in the design, development and optimisation of data, analytics and AI solutions. The role focuses on solution architecture, technical quality, peer guidance and delivery of robust platforms and products across data warehousing, dimensional modelling, ETL/ELT, analytics and emerging AI capability.

What you'll do

  • Leading the technical design and delivery of solutions across the data warehouse, data lake and related data platforms in use within Datacom, ensuring designs are coherent, aligned to architecture standards, and implemented effectively.
  • Collaborating effectively with data operations, reporting teams, architecture and business stakeholders to enable technical change, operational readiness, quality outcomes and adoption of data, analytics and AI solutions.
  • Providing technical leadership to ensure delivery commitments, quality standards, architectural integrity and service expectations are met across supported platforms and initiatives.
  • Technical architecture principles and standards are followed and liaises/ co-ordinates with a technical architecture function that is appropriate to the platform technology in use.
  • Providing consultative and implementation support to Data/Analytics Operations, BAU and project teams as required, including advice on AI-enabled opportunities and solution approaches.
  • Providing/Co-ordinating implementation of solution requests required by projects.
  • Monitoring platform and solution performance, identifying trends and risks, and driving technical improvements to reliability, scalability and service quality.
  • Contributing technical input to estimation, sequencing and delivery planning to support sustainable and effective implementation of work.
  • Providing technical mentoring, peer review and guidance to uplift engineering practices and support capability development across the team.
  • Determining pragmatic technical approaches to meet service objectives, support requirements and delivery outcomes.
  • Remedying complex problems and provide technical consultation in line with the established support model.
  • Planning technical capabilities and platform evolution to meet user, operational and strategic requirements.\
  • Championing modern engineering practices and emerging capability in data, analytics and AI to uplift technical maturity across the function.
  • Monitoring system performance for all Data Platforms in scope.
  • Responsible for implementing a principle driven health and safety culture that cares for employees and ensures their safety in line with Datacom policy.

What We're Looking For

  • 7+ years' experience in commercial Information Technology.
  • Fabric design and architecture, AI-enabled analytics capability, and modern Microsoft data platform services.
  • SQL/Microsoft Desing/Architecture\
  • Experience designing and implementing modern data, analytics or AI solutions in complex enterprise environments.
  • Dimensional modelling, data modelling, data architecture and modern data platform design across enterprise data warehouse and data lake environments.
  • Data analysis, analytics engineering, and AI/ML concepts, including practical application of AI capability within enterprise data ecosystems.
  • Experience working in DevOps and Agile environments, as well as continuous integration.
  • Experience in distributed / high performance data platforms and systems.
  • Strong software engineering and coding skills, ideally in a data-intensive environment.
  • Ability to design and apply scalable data, analytics and AI patterns to solve business problems.
  • Ability to communicate complex quantitative analysis in a clear, precise, and actionable manner.
