Mo te turanga | About the role
We're looking for a Health and Safety Business Partner to partner with, and support, our growing number of North Island Generation Assets. Flexibility is key - you may also be called on from time-to-time to support major projects or assets in the South Island too!

As part of our Health and Safety team, you will provide technical advice on how best to manage H&S risks and ensure our H&S systems are the best they can be, but the most important aspect of the role will be engaging our people at all levels of the business in our health and safety programme and supporting a culture of learning and continuous improvement.
Please note the successful candidate will ideally be located in the lower North Island (Wellington region/Manawatu).

- Excellent learning and development opportunities, we want you to be the best version of yourself and will help you get there!
- Award winning wellbeing programme that provides support whenever and wherever you need it
- Employee discounts off your power with Meridian, every bit counts

What you'll bring | Nga pukenga kei a koe mo tenei turanga
We're looking for a safety champion with the ability to collaborate with our teams on the ground, lead change and improvement, and keep safety simple in a complex world.
You'll have a strong understanding of Health and Safety law, Safety II principles, regulations and other industry requirements, but more importantly you'll be a strong relationship builder who can role their sleeves up and work alongside our people to achieve the best outcomes.
A relevant qualification in health and safety would be an advantage, but we're most interested in your practical experience and your ability to facilitate change, drive improvement, and influence others. We'd welcome candidates from an operations or maintenance background with a passion for health and safety and a solid understanding of what good looks like in practice. Furthermore, experience within the renewable electricity generation sector would be beneficial.
You'll need to be comfortable with regular travel to our sites across NZ, particularly in the North Island, averaging around two to three times per month.

We're a great place to work with plenty of opportunities and career development for those that want it. We value and live by three 'How to Be's': 'be gutsy', working together by 'being in the waka' and doing the right thing by 'being a good human'.
We embrace diversity and inclusion and ensure that everyone feels like they belong, are welcomed, feel valued, and feel comfortable to bring their whole selves to work. We want all our people to be the best that they can be, so we make sure that there's room for everyone to be exactly who they are, andwelcome applications from people of all backgrounds and experiences, including individuals with disabilities, diverse health needs, and those who identify as neurodiverse, because we believe our differences make us stronger. We believe that fun is good for you, and we make sure that our office vibe reflects that. We support each other and celebrate our successes.
Sustainability sits firmly in our DNA - both socially and environmentally - and we're doing what we can to help Aotearoa reduce their carbon emissions and we're helping support others in our generation communities to do the same.
