Air Logistics Customs Specialist

Reporting to the National Customs Manager, you will have the responsibility for completing import and export air logistics customs entries for a variety of customers, whilst ensuring New Zealand customs procedures and legislative requirements are complied with at all times. This is a 6 month Fixed Term Contract
How you create impact
Complete the required customs entries for import and export air logistics shipments.
Request and compile necessary customs documentation, including customs invoices, certificates of origin and cargocontrol documents, ensuring all paperwork is accurate and complete.
Verify that all customs documentation complies with current laws and regulations to prevent delays or issues during the customs clearance process.
Maintain a high level of customer service, understanding the importance of customs operations in the overall supply chain.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders, logistics providers and clients to ensure smooth operations and quick resolutions to any issues that may arise.
Act as the primary customs liaison for external clients, providing guidance and support throughout the customs process, including advising clients and the Customs Manager on import and export requirements, tariff systems, insurance requirements, quotas, and other customsrelated matters, helping to navigate complex regulatory landscapes.
Provide feedback to account managers and the Customs Manager on items regarding any recurring issues that impact service quality or customer relationships.
Stay abreast of changes in import/export laws and regulations, ensuring clients remain compliant with evolving regulatory requirements and changes impacting customs operations.
Work closely with internal and business operations, helping to maintain a proactive and compliant approach to shipments and other duties where required.
Establish and maintain strong relationships with the customer base.
What we would like you to bring
Previous experience in a Customs role, including holding a current Customs PIN.
Indepth knowledge of NZ customs and other regulatory procedures and legislative requirements.
Demonstrated knowledge of all relevant regulations (NZ tariffs, GST, BioSecurity, Customs and Excise Acts).
Ability to effectively manage and prioritise your time, especially when under pressure and with a busy workload.
Excellent attention to detail coupled with a high level of accuracy.
Ability to build relationships and collaborate with various stakeholders, internal and external.
