DevOps Engineer - 12 Month fixed term
LIC is a farmer-owned co-operative that's been supporting herd improvement in New Zealand's dairy sector for more than 115 years. We're focused on providing superior genetics, reliable testing and diagnostics, integrated on-farm software, and great customer service, all designed to help farmers make smarter decisions every day.
As a proud generational co-operative, we're here for farmers, their families, and rural communities, not just for today, but for the future. And none of it happens without our people. Whether on farm, in the lab, or behind the scenes, every one of us plays a part in helping New Zealand farmers succeed.

You will play a key role in managing and uplifting our cloud and infrastructure capabilities, with a strong focus on AWS platform operations, governance, security, and reliability.
This role has a strong Infrastructure Operations lens. You'll help manage the underlying AWS platform, improve guardrails and governance, strengthen monitoring and operational readiness, and support the teams who build on top of it. You're proactive, adaptable, and obsessed with continuous improvement. Whether it's strengthening monitoring, automating manual processes, improving backup and recovery patterns, tightening security controls, or sharpening operational playbooks, you step in where needed and make things better.
Your Key Focus:
Champion DevSecOps best practice, automation, monitoring, and a strong security-first approach across all work.
Drive an "automate everything, measure everything" mindset to improve efficiency, consistency, and operational outcomes.
Take a leading role in optimising and governing AWS infrastructure and platform services, including standards, guardrails, access controls, and core platform patterns.
Strengthen monitoring, observability, alerting, reporting, and operational support across AWS and hybrid environments.
Improve backup, recovery, resilience, and operational readiness across critical AWS workloads.
Partner with Architecture, Security, Delivery teams, product teams, and service providers to align roadmaps, uplift practices, and standardise DevOps governance across the enterprise.
About You:
Strong hands-on experience with AWS and modern cloud infrastructure, with a focus on reliability, security, and operational excellence.
Solid understanding of automation, CI/CD, monitoring, and observability in complex technology environments.
Comfortable working across AWS, Azure, and hybrid environments, supporting enterprise-scale platforms and services.
A practical, proactive engineer who can improve platform performance, resilience, and day-to-day operations.
A strong communicator who works well across teams, brings an automation-first mindset, and is always looking for better ways of doing things.
In Return:
Based 10 minutes from Hamilton, in a semi-rural location, the role provides the opportunity for a lifestyle change for those seeking a better work -life balance and wanting to escape the 'rat race' and cost of living in bigger cities. Alternatively, we are open to flexible and remote working arrangements.

Extra leave days
Flexible working options
Discounted health, life, income and disability insurances
Access to our employee shares scheme
