Are you an experienced Boiler Operator with strong mechanical skills and a practical approach to problem solving? We are looking for a skilled and reliable Boiler Operator to join our team at the Dunedin Energy Centre.

The Job
You will be responsible for the efficient operation and maintenance of the Dunedin Energy Centre plant, ensuring a reliable supply of steam to customers at all times. This role requires practical and technical expertise, strong attention to detail, and the ability to respond promptly to operational issues as they arise.
Your responsibilities include:
- Operating and monitoring boilers and associated plant to ensure reliable steam supply
- Carrying out preventative maintenance, fault finding and minor mechanical tasks
- Responding to operational issues and after-hours faults when required
- Coordinating contractors and supporting timely repairs
- Maintaining positive customer, contractor and team relationships
- Keeping work areas clean, tidy, safe and secure
- Supporting health, safety, and compliance requirements
The site operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and this role works on a rostered shift basis.
About you
You are a practical, reliable and safety-conscious Boiler Operator who takes pride in keeping plant running efficiently and safely. You enjoy hands-on work, solving problems, and working closely with customers, contractors and colleagues. You bring a calm, professional approach to operational issues and are comfortable taking responsibility in a 24/7 shift-based environment.
You will ideally have:
- Have advanced relevant experience in boiler operation
- A boiler operator certification
- Have mechanical experience and be able to carry out preventative maintenance tasks
- Ideally have a relevant trade qualification
- Be physically fit and able to meet the physical demands of the role
- Be health and safety conscious, with a proactive approach to identifying and managing hazards
- Have strong problem-solving skills and a practical, solutions-focused approach
- Have a great attitude, strong work ethic, and willingness to contribute to a wider team
