We are seeking a motivated and relationship-focused Training Advisor to work across the Waikato region, supporting apprentices and employers throughout their training journey. This is a highly rewarding role where you'll have the opportunity to mentor learners, engage with industry employers, and contribute to the growth of New Zealand's future workforce.

About the Role

As a Training Advisor, you will act as a trusted partner to both apprentices and employers, ensuring learners receive the support, guidance, and resources they need to successfully complete their apprenticeship programmes.

This role involves regular travel throughout the Waikato region, visiting workplaces, building strong industry relationships, conducting learner reviews, and supporting training outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with apprentices, employers, trainers, and industry stakeholders.
  • Support apprentices throughout their training journey, providing mentoring, coaching, and guidance.
  • Conduct workplace visits and learner progress reviews.
  • Develop training plans aligned to workplace requirements and learner goals.
  • Identify learners requiring additional support and implement strategies to improve outcomes.
  • Coordinate and facilitate study groups and learner engagement activities.
  • Provide assessment support and coaching to workplace assessors where required.
  • Promote apprenticeship pathways and industry training opportunities.
  • Engage with secondary schools, careers advisors, and industry groups to encourage future participation in trades and vocational education.
  • Maintain accurate learner records and reporting requirements.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and regional growth opportunities.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • Experience in training, mentoring, coaching, education, apprenticeship support, or workforce development.
  • Strong relationship-building and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
  • The ability to work independently and manage a regional territory.
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills.
  • A genuine passion for helping people succeed.
  • Confidence working with employers, learners, and industry representatives.
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills.

Ideally you will also have

  • Experience within a trade, manufacturing, engineering, construction, or vocational training environment.
  • Workplace assessor, training, or adult education experience.
  • Knowledge of apprenticeships, industry training, or workforce development programmes.
  • Experience working with schools, training providers, or industry organisations.
