As a Senior Consultant joining our Strategy, Economic Advisory team, you will play a leading role across a range of projects-from policy development & implementation to more advanced work such as forecasting, modelling, and strategic advisory.

You will deepen your understanding of how significant decisions impact the economy and take ownership in navigating the complexities of designing and implementing policy and strategy for New Zealand's businesses across all sectors. You will lead elements of presentations to government officials and private sector clients, contribute to external events, and build strong connections with Economists across New Zealand and the global Deloitte network.

Job Description

Your typical day will include:

The successful candidate will provide economic modelling, research, analytic and writing support our team for client reports, proposals, and various other Deloitte publications and initiatives. Key responsibilities include:

  • Support on engagements by conducting quantitative analysis, research, report writing and economic modelling, such as macroeconomic forecasting, Computable General Equilibrium modelling, Cost Benefit Analysis, Input-Output modelling, and bespoke econometric regression
  • Assist with the creation of proposals and presentations to prospective clients
  • Support the development of the Economic Advisory practice by supporting various business development, intellectual capital, and marketing activities
  • Interact with clients at all levels, including through interviews, presentations, workshops, and surveys
  • Mentor and supporting junior team members, providing guidance and quality assurance
  • Collaborate with other teams to bring together diverse insights from across Deloitte

Qualifications

  • A postgraduate degree in economics, data science, or a related discipline
  • Proven experience (typically 3-6 years) in economics consulting, policy, or a related field
  • Strong ability to lead workstreams and deliver high-quality outputs
  • Advanced problem-solving skills with strong critical thinking capability
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with confidence presenting to stakeholders
  • A collaborative mindset and ability to mentor others
  • Passion for economics and a strong desire to make an impact
  • Drive, initiative, and accountability for your career progression
