Formwork Carpenter
Job Description
We’re looking for experienced Formwork Carpenters to join established civil crews in Napier. Steady local work with consistent hours and solid teams.
You’ll be working across a range of civil projects including formwork and concrete structures with reputable local contractors.
What you’ll be doing:
Formwork construction and installation
Reading plans and working within a crew
Assist with site setup , traffic control support, and foundation prep
Build, install, and remove formwork and falsework
Place and tie reinforcing steel (rebar, mesh, cages)
Work on key bridge elements: abutments, piers, columns, beams, and decks
Pour, spread, and level concrete using pumps and tools
Use vibrators to compact concrete and remove air pockets
Screed and finish concrete surfaces (trowel, float, broom finish)
Apply curing methods and protect concrete from weather
Operate or assist with machinery (pumps, telehandlers, excavators)
Follow NZ standards and health & safety requirements
Check levels, alignment, and quality of work
Carry out general labouring duties and support other trades
Maintain a clean and safe worksite
Hold or work towards key skills: licences, WAH, confined space, rigging
What we’re looking for:
At least one year experience in formwork and civil carpentry
Ability to work well in a team
Reliable, punctual, and safety-focused
Strong work ethic and attention to detail
Eligible to work in New Zealand
Able to pass a pre-employment drug test and conviction check.
