Facilities & Safety Coordinator
We're looking for a practical, highly organised Facilities & Workplace Coordinator to support the day-to-day running of our Christchurch site.
This is a hands-on coordination role in a fast-paced environment, responsible for ensuring the workplace is safe, well-maintained, and operating smoothly for a large engineering team.
This role is not an engineering position. It suits someone who enjoys structure, coordination, and keeping a busy site running reliably.
What you'll be doing
- Coordinating Health & Safety activities, including incident reporting, investigations, corrective actions, and compliance documentation.
- Maintaining Health & Safety records, registers, training records, and audit documentation.
- Supporting site inspections, audits, risk assessments, and compliance activities.
- Tracking Health & Safety actions to completion and ensuring follow-up activities are closed out on time.
- Coordinating building maintenance, repairs, and day-to-day facilities issues across the Christchurch site.
- Acting as the primary point of contact for landlords, contractors, and service providers.
- Managing contractor access, inductions, permits, and on-site works.
- Coordinating workplace changes, office moves, fit-outs, and facilities projects.
- Managing external service providers including cleaning, security, fire compliance, waste management, and maintenance contractors.
- Supporting site security, access control, emergency preparedness, and workplace compliance requirements.
- Ensuring facilities services are delivered safely, efficiently, and with minimal disruption to operations.
- Identifying opportunities to improve workplace safety, organisation, and site functionality.
- Providing general workplace operations support to ensure a safe, productive, and well-maintained environment for staff.
What we're looking for
- We're looking for someone with strong coordination, organisation, and administrative experience, ideally in a busy operational or office environment.
- You will likely have 2-5 years' experience in roles such as Facilities Coordinator, Workplace Coordinator, Office Manager, Operations Administrator, Site Coordinator, or Health & Safety Administrator (administration-focused).
- You will be confident managing multiple priorities, working with contractors and internal teams, and maintaining accurate follow-up on tasks and actions. You'll be proactive, practical, and comfortable working in an environment where priorities can change.
- Strong attention to detail, clear communication skills, and a reliable "get things done" approach are essential.
What this role is not
This role is not suited to:
- Engineers or technical specialists seeking design or R&D work
- Senior Facilities Managers or Property Managers expecting strategic ownership, budgets, or capital project leadership
- Senior Health & Safety Managers focused on policy development or organisational strategy
This is a hands-on coordination role focused on execution, site support, and day-to-day workplace reliability.
Why this role matters
This role ensures the site is safe, well-maintained, and running as expected so that engineers and operational teams can focus on their work without interruption from facilities or compliance issues.
