Director of Human Resources

As a trusted member of the Executive Committee team, and reporting into the General Manager, the Director of Human Resources will lead HR strategy aligned with business goals, champion company culture, and ensure compliance with Marriott standards and local regulations.
This role is not a typical HR leader role; the role encompasses the below responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership
- Develop and execute HR strategies that support the hotel's business objectives
- Partner with the General Manager and leadership team on organizational planning
- Drive engagement, culture, and employer branding initiatives

Talent Management & Development
- Lead recruitment, onboarding, and retention strategies across all departments
- Implement leadership development and succession planning programs
- Foster a high-performance culture through coaching and feedback

Employee Relations
- Provide expert guidance on employee relations matters and conflict resolution
- Ensure compliance with New Zealand employment law and Marriott policies
- Promote a positive, inclusive, and respectful work environment

Compensation and Benefits
- Manage compensation, benefits, and recognition programs
- Ensure market competitiveness and internal equity

Training and Development
- Champion Marriott's learning and development frameworks
- Drive continuous improvement in associate capability and service standards
What are we looking for:
- Proven experience as a Director of HR / Senior HR Leader (Executive Committee member) in luxury hotel
- Strong knowledge of New Zealand employment law
- Demonstrated ability to influence senior stakeholders and lead change
- Experience within Marriott International or a global brand is highly desirable
