Days required: Rotating roster, including weekends

Hours per week: 32 hours per week

Hourly Pay: $28-35 per hour

The Halal Quality Assurance Officer supports in the organisation, implementation,

monitoring, verification, and continuous improvement of Halal certification and assurance systems in ccordance with New Zealand regulatory requirements, recognized international Halal standards, importing country requirements, and FIANZ Halal certification protocols.

The role assists in ensuring Halal integrity throughout slaughtering, processing, manufacturing

packaging, storage, logistics, and export certification processes while supporting accredited Halal certification activities for domestic and international markets.

  • Key Responsibilities

    1.`Halal Certification Compliance & Monitoring

    "19; Assist in the implementation and maintenance of Halal Assurance Systems (HAS) within FIANZ certified establishments.

    "19; Monitor compliance with FIANZ Halal standards, approved Halal programmes, and certification conditions.

    "19; Conduct routine Halal compliance verification at certified premises.

    "19; Assist in reviewing company procedures to ensure ongoing compliance with Halal certification requirements.

    "19; Verify segregation of Halal and non-alal materials, ingredients, equipment, and production lines.

    "19; Assist in monitoring corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) arising from non-conformances.

    2. Slaughter Oversight & Processing Verification

    "19; Support monitoring of Halal slaughter operations to ensure compliance with Islamic Shariah requirements & NZ Export Halal Notice/Relevant OMAR standards.

    "19; Verify slaughter integrity, food safety, animal welfare compliance and ensure segregation and traceability of Halal carcasses and products.

    "19; Liaise with Halal slaughtermen, Halal supervisors, and plant personnel.

    3. Compliance with New Zealand Regulatory Requirements

    "19; Support compliance activities aligned with New Zealand food regulatory frameworks, including requirements administered by the Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI).

    "19; Assist in ensuring certified facilities maintain compliance with major requirements i.e., RiskM anagement Programs (RMP), Food safety systems and Animal product regulations

    4. Overseas Market & International Halal Compliance

    "19; Assist in ensuring compliance with International Halal requirements for export markets.

    "19; Support verification against overseas Halal protocols and customer specifications.

    "19; Monitor changes in international Halal requirements and communicate updates internally.

    "19; Assist in preparing documentation required for overseas Halal recognition and approvals i.e., Halal certificates and E-certs.

    5. Audits, Inspections & Certification Activities

    "19; Participate in Internal Halal audits, site inspections, any scheduled and unannounced compliance visits and certification assessments.

    "19; Assist Senior Managers and auditors during external audits by overseas delegations, competent authorities, and certification recognition bodies.

    "19; Prepare audit findings and follow-up actions.

    "19; Maintain inspection reports and audit documentation.

    6. Documentation & Records Management

    "19; Maintain accurate Halal certification files and compliance records.

    "19; Review and verify Ingredient specifications, Product formulations, Supplier Halal certificates, rocessing aids plus additives and cleaning chemicals and packaging materials. 7. Client & Stakeholder Coordination

Skills Required:

  • Qualification in Food Science, Food Technology, Quality Assurance, Animal Science, Islamic Studies, or a related discipline.

    Basic understanding of Islamic dietary laws and Halal requirements.

    Knowledge of HACCP, GMP and RMP.

    Strong written and verbal communication skills.

    Good administrative and reporting ability.

    Ability to travel nationally and work in processing environments.
