Job Description

Jellicoe Street Bar & Eatery (Creative Hospitality Group Limited) is seeking a Sous Chef to join our dynamic culinary team at our Bar & Eatery in Te Puke, Bay of Plenty. This is a permanenet/full time role (30+ hours), offering the opportunity to work alongside our enthusiastic Team in delivering exceptional dining experiences for our customers.

This will be a full-time Sous Chef position located in Te Puke. A minimum of 30 hours per week will be gauranteed. Business currently operates 6 days a week but may progress to trading 7 days a week and you can be rostered on any day/s time/s during the week. Depending on the level of your skills, rate of pay will vary between $30-$34 per hour.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in food preparation and collaborate with Head Chef
  • Help in design, testing and implementation of the food and drink menu
  • Produce high-quality plates for customers in both design and and taste
  • Oversee and supervise kitchen staff
  • Assist with inventory, ordering, supplier relationships and management of supplies
  • Ensure food is high quality, and that kitchen is in good, clean, and hygienic condition
  • Keep work and food prep stations clean and comply with food saftey standards
  • Offer suggestions and creative ideas that can improve the kitchen's performance, menu options, and service levels.
  • Maintain the schedule for staff shifts
  • Monitor and maintain the kitchen equipment, and arrange repairs and service as needed.
  • Ensure that all food is served and stored at the correct tempreture to meet kitchen guidlines
  • Taking the lead on shifts, and giving training, support and advice to junior team members
  • Follow all sanitation and hygienic food handling procedures set out by legislation and restaurant policy

Skills/Experience Required

  • Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience or a relevant NZ register diploma
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, holidays/public holidays
  • Solid organisational skills and good speed of work
  • Passion for good food
  • Great communication skills
