The Faculty of Dentistry at the University of Otago is seeking a motivated and reliable Sterilising technician/ assistant to join our Sterilising Services team.

The role | Te mahi

Our Sterilising Services Department is a fast-paced and essential service that supports both patient care and student learning within the Faculty of Dentistry. You will be responsible for the decontamination, inspection, assembly, sterilisation, and distribution of dental instruments and equipment used throughout the Dental School's clinical and teaching programmes.

Working closely with clinical and academic staff, you will play a critical role in ensuring instruments are processed to the highest standards of quality, safety, and infection prevention.

We are ideally looking for a sterilising technician; however, we are open to receiving applications from individuals who may be interested in developing a career in sterilising services.

To be successful in this role, you will have:
Excellent attention to detail and a strong commitment to quality
The ability to work effectively in a busy team environment
Good communication and organisational skills
A positive attitude and willingness to learn
The ability to follow procedures and maintain high standards of infection prevention and control
Basic computer skills and confidence using digital systems
Desirable
Current or previous experience in a sterilising services environment
Qualification in Sterilising Technology (or willingness to undertake training)
Knowledge of infection prevention and sterilisation standards

This is a full time (37.5), academic year only (44 weeks), permanent position, based in Otepoti, Dunedin.

The appointment range for the sterilising technician role is $63,508 to $68,185. Tope of range is $73,640.

The appointment range for the sterilising assistant role is $59,494 to $63,000. Top of range is $68,847.
