Job Description

At Jacobs, we're challenging today to reinvent tomorrow by solving the world's most critical problems for thriving cities, resilient environments, mission‑critical outcomes, operational advancement, scientific discovery and cutting‑edge manufacturing, turning abstract ideas into realities that transform the world for good.

Your impact

Jacobs is expanding our Auckland team and seeking a Senior Structural Bridge Engineer to provide technical leadership in the design, rehabilitation and management of civil infrastructure, with a particular focus on bridge structures across the ANZ region.

In this role, you will develop and design structural engineering solutions that meet client requirements and industry standards. You will maintain technical competency in structural engineering while staying current with contemporary practice and industry trends. In addition to working amongst your Jacobs colleagues, this role may involve placement into project site offices on the larger projects, doing site inspections and construction support, and liaising with site‑based multidisciplinary teams within JVs and Alliances. An ability to work independently and autonomously with limited supervision is beneficial to being a strong candidate.

Key responsibilities include mentoring junior engineers and contributing to their technical development, providing technical input for bids and proposals, and delivering preliminary and concept designs for structural projects. You will work with drafters to produce design documentation and create designs in accordance with relevant standards and local requirements.

Collaboration is central to this position. You will work closely with team members to deliver team, section and business unit goals, attend client meetings to strengthen relationships, and represent the bridges and structural team at various forums. Regular communication with the Lead Engineer ensures alignment on project direction, time management and workload capacity.

This role offers the opportunity to support our business unit in a global setting, fostering cross‑geography relationships that maximize the benefits of global delivery for our clients and our people.
