About the Role

Opportunities for Emergency Medicine (ED) Registrars are available, starting as soon as possible. The Gisborne Emergency Department offers supportive working conditions and is committed to excellent teaching.

About the Team / Service / Location

The Gisborne ED is managed by FACEM or vocationally registered emergency specialists working with urgent care doctors to treat a volume of about 28,000 patients per year, with a 25% admission rate. The team handles high acuity medical patients, trauma, and paediatrics, providing solid procedural opportunities and teaching support.

Qualifications
  • Resident Medical Officers PGY3 or greater, or equivalent
  • Completed at least a six‑month placement in an Emergency Department at Senior House Officer or Registrar level
  • Registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Council of NewZealand
  • Eligible to live and work in NewZealand (NZ or Australian citizenship/residency or appropriate visa)
  • Competency in TeAoMāori, Tikanga, and TeReoMāori, or a commitment to learning and growth in these areas
  • Experience in projects or initiatives that give effect to TeTiriti principles and frameworks, and application of MātaurangaMāori and KaupapaMāori approaches, particularly in health‑care settings
