We are expanding our New Plymouth engineering capability to support major industrial growth — and we're looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer who specialises in static mechanical equipment design, including pressure vessels, heat exchangers, tanks and fixed process equipment.

About the Role

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will take ownership of mechanical design and engineering activities across the full project lifecycle. You will:

  • Design and analyse pressure vessels, heat exchangers, tanks, and other static equipment
  • Prepare design packages including calculations, drawings, data sheets, and specifications
  • Apply ASME VIII, PD5500, AS1210, API, TEMA and NZ regulatory requirements (including PECPR)
  • Lead mechanical engineering scopes from concept through to detailed design and implementation
  • Provide engineering support for procurement, vendor engagement and fabrication
  • Develop technical proposals, risk assessments, and cost estimates
  • Mentor junior engineers and collaborate across multi-disciplinary project teams
  • Ensure designs are efficient, safe, compliant, and meet client requirements
About You
  • A tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering
  • 10+ years of experience in static mechanical equipment design or integrity assessment
  • Strong understanding of pressure vessel and heat exchanger design codes
  • Experience with fabrication processes and/or fitness-for-service assessments
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organisational skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively and engage confidently with clients
  • A commitment to high-quality engineering and safe work practices
