Opportunity to lead and shape enterprise‑wide risk and compliance strategy across the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment

\n

This is a rare opportunity to step into a senior enterprise leadership role where you will shape and embed a mature risk and compliance function across MBIE. You will operate at the centre of organisational decision‑making, ensuring risk, compliance and strategy are integrated to support sustainable performance and public value.

\n

You will lead a small team of specialists and act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders and governance committees, influencing decision‑making at the highest levels. This includes providing strategic risk insights to the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and key governance forums, while ensuring MBIE meets its legislative and internal policy obligations.

  • Lead and uplift the organisation’s enterprise risk management framework

  • Provide strategic risk insights to executive leadership and governance forums
  • \n
  • Drive compliance frameworks and ensure adherence to legislative requirements
  • \n
  • Oversee insurance strategy and coverage
  • \n
  • Partner with senior leaders to align risk, compliance, and business objectives
  • \n
  • Build capability and embed a strong risk‑aware culture across the organisation
  • \n
\nSkills and Experience Required\n
    \n
  • Significant experience in enterprise risk, compliance, and leadership role
  • \n
  • Strong understanding of risk frameworks, governance and their alignment to strategy
  • \n
  • Proven ability to influence at executive and board level
  • \n
  • Strategic thinker with excellent analytical and problem‑solving capabilities
  • \n
  • Experience leading teams and driving organisational change
  • \n
  • Relevant tertiary qualification (e.g., risk management, law, finance, or similar); professional certifications desirable
