Senior Game Programmer (C#)
Job Description
Auckland | Full Time - 40 hrs a week | Salary Range 100 - 140K Yearly | Game Development team
\nRocketWerkz is an ambitious PC video games studio based in Auckland’s waterfront. Founded by Dean Hall, creator of hit survival games DayZ and Icarus, we are independently run with support from one of the world’s largest game companies.
\nWe are developing multiple games simultaneously using a variety of tools and engines. While some projects use Unity or Unreal Engine, our latest projects use our custom framework called BRUTAL.
\nWe need you!
\nWe’re looking for Senior Game Programmers working in C# to develop new games with the BRUTAL framework. You’ll have both a strong understanding of C# and a drive to ship updates that get games into players’ hands fast.
\nThe BRUTAL framework lets programmers focus on gameplay and game systems in C# while accessing custom libraries (e.g., a Vulkan graphics pipeline, a low‑level networking library). Most of our games are open‑world, simulation‑based or systems‑driven, which benefit from advanced C# features. Kitten Space Agency is the first game we built and published using BRUTAL.
\nIt is likely you could move between projects over time, learning the ropes on our open‑world base‑building sim Stationeers before moving onto new games.
\nA day in the life…\n- \n
- Rapidly prototype game systems and gameplay in C# \n
- Continuously adapt code in response to gameplay and designer feedback \n
- Continuously test, debug and profile code to polish the game experience \n
- Talk with players on Discord or online forums \n
- Understand the desired game experience and champion the game as a whole \n
- Give feedback to the BRUTAL tools team to continually improve it \n
- Use JetBrains Rider, GitHub, and GitHub Copilot \n
We are looking for people passionate about making games and sharing them with the player community and continually improving them. A great portfolio and practical experience are valued as much as academic qualifications.
\nTo get this all done, we’d like you to have:\n- \n
- 8+ years of software development (or games industry) experience \n
- Extensive experience in C# software development \n
- Experience working collaboratively within a programming team \n
- A tertiary qualification (Computer Science, Software Engineering, or similar) or equivalent industry experience \n
- \n
- Experience with other graphics APIs or game engines \n
- Familiarity with C++ \n
- A published game \n
