About the RoleIn this role you will work with Te Whatu Ora Tairawhiti and Te Kupenga Net Trust to provide a community‑driven service, exploring many ways of working with whanau in distress and approaching health from a Kaupapa Māori methodology. It will involve co‑design and strong community engagement to address inequalities for Māori, and may include generalist or specialised psychiatry across adults, older people and child/adolescent populations.
Position Description | Consultant PsychiatristYou will be part of the Mental Health and Addiction Services team at Te Ara Maioha, with opportunities to specialise or act as a generalist in Adult, Older People, and Child & Adolescent Psychiatry. Days and hours can be negotiated. You will help shape new service models and facilities for the Gisborne community.
About youEssential:
- Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatry or equivalent.
- Registered or eligible for vocational registration in Psychiatry with the Medical Council of New Zealand.
- At least 3 years of experience.
- Current New Zealand driver’s licence.
Skills and experience:
- Broad clinical experience.
- Specialist knowledge of Mental Health Services for Older People and General Adult psychiatry.
- Ability to work professionally and effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi, equity and Mana Motuhake.
- Cultural literacy and willingness to be courageous.
