We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Health and Safety professional to join us, with flexibility for the role to be based in Auckland, Tauranga, or Christchurch. This exciting opportunity will have you leading a team of health and safety practitioners to establish a cohesive and aligned practice. You will be working closely with the National Health and Safety Manager to support the implementation of the HEB health and safety strategy and will play a pivotal role in helping us fulfil our goal of making sure all our people get home safe and healthy. You will also lead several key H&S projects that deliver to our Health and Safety strategy.

Our ideal candidate will possess several years' experience working in a construction health and safety environment, proven experience leading a team of H&S professionals distributed across multiple locations, and a strong understanding of health and safety legislation and principles, particularly critical control management. We need someone who has exceptional interpersonal and stakeholder management skills, the ability to communicate effectively across a range of audiences, and strong coaching and leadership capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

Your duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Leading, coaching, and developing the Health and Safety Advisory team to ensure there is cohesive and aligned practice to deliver the nationwide programme of inspections, monitoring, investigations and training
  • \n
  • Providing support to the operational management team to ensure effective delivery of the health and safety strategy and annual plan
  • \n
  • Supporting your team to effectively lead incident investigations to ensure we gather organisational learning and implement improvements in a timely and effective manner
  • \n
  • Proactively building and developing effective relationships with managers, workers, suppliers and subcontractors
  • \n
  • Collaborating with the National H&S Manager to ensure effectiveness and alignment of current health and safety strategy and work programme
  • \n
  • Leading key health and safety projects and initiatives
  • \n
  • Monitoring, measuring and reporting on health and safety performance
  • \n
  • Delivering training and communication to ensure successful and sustainable implementation of health and safety initiatives
  • \n
  • Championing all HEB Construction health and safety procedures and requirements through active leadership
  • \n
