About the role Senior role – 24 month fixed term (Band I) at Porirua CBD. The purpose of the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) group is to work in partnership with the rest of the organization to provide digital technology and communication solutions that support excellence in policing and service delivery, and enable Police's strategic ambitions. With a primary hub in Wellington and a presence throughout the country, we deliver new and enhanced solutions directly and through specialist vendor partnerships. We provide expert advice on how technology can be leveraged to support Police's strategies and turn concepts into reality through collaborative development. With Police ICT moving to a product model, the Collaboration Email team are tasked with delivering new initiatives using Microsoft modern tools as well as providing ongoing support and maintenance. Reporting to the Technical Product Owner, you will work in an Agile product delivery model where the key focus is delivering a modern collaboration experience for NZ Police. The Senior Microsoft 365 Engineer is responsible for providing technical and functional direction and 2nd/3rd level support for Microsoft Office365, SharePoint Online, OneDrive and Power Platform for NZ Police. The environment being maintained covers the day‑to‑day management of these Microsoft services for NZ Police to ensure service integrity, reliability, and performance at optimal efficiency. Key Accountabilities Collaborate with peers and stakeholders to understand organization goals and deliver business value. Monitor and maintain an overview of the Microsoft Online Services for NZ Police and act as appropriate to ensure continuity and availability of services. Contribute to the Product Roadmap for Collaboration and Email assisting the Technical Product Owner to deliver value for business groups. Provide technical leadership and advanced support across Microsoft365 collaboration services, including Teams, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Exchange Online and Power Platform. Support governance, security, compliance and lifecycle management across Microsoft365 services. Troubleshoot complex incidents and service issues, working with internal teams and vendors to resolve problems and improve service reliability. Identify opportunities to automate, simplify or improve operational processes. Support change, adoption and communication activities so staff can make effective use of Microsoft365 tools. What you'll bring Highly developed communication skills with the ability to translate technical and non‑technical information to a range of audiences. Exceptional problem‑solving skills with a strong focus on end‑to‑end ownership of issues. Advanced knowledge of security, architecture and change management within a government agency. A proactive, curious and customer‑focused approach, with the ability to own complex problems through to resolution. Ability to work effectively with technical teams, vendors, product owners and business stakeholders. Experience working in a product team using Agile methodologies to deliver business value. ITILv4 Agile Fundamentals preferred. Advanced administration experience across Microsoft365 collaboration services, including Microsoft Teams, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Exchange Online and Power Platform.
