Job DescriptionThe role
In this newly created role as our Risk Assurance Lead, you will play a key role in shaping and delivering Alpine’s end-to-end risk management approach, staying closely connected to how risk shows up in day-to-day operations.
The role has a strong focus on hands-on delivery, working alongside the business to embed risk practices, maintain registers, support risk assessments, and ensure controls are in place and effective in day-to-day operations.
Alongside this, you will contribute to and help evolve Alpine’s broader risk frameworks, governance, and risk appetite through engagement with the Executive team and Board.
You will build trusted relationships across the organisation, helping teams understand and manage risk in a practical, fit-for-purpose way. This includes being hands-on in facilitating risk discussions, supporting reporting, contributing to assurance activity, and driving continuous improvement across our risk systems and processes.
As our Risk Assurance Lead, you will be responsible for:
- Supporting the development and ongoing delivery of Alpine’s risk management framework and governance approach
- Working directly with teams to identify, assess, and manage operational and strategic risks, while building capability across the business through coaching, guidance, and practical engagement
- Maintaining risk registers, monitoring controls, and supporting risk reporting to the Executive, Board, and Risk Committee
What you’ll need
- A bachelor’s qualification in risk management, business, finance, engineering, or similar
- Experience in a risk, assurance, audit, or related role, with exposure to both operational and enterprise risk (Usually 4+ years)
- Proven experience establishing and maintaining effective risk frameworks, and supporting executive decision-making through clear risk insights and recommendations
- Experience working in complex, operational, infrastructure, or regulated environments
Nice to haves
- Understanding of regulatory environments and industry standards within infrastructure, utilities, or asset-intensive organisations
- Experience working within the New Zealand electricity distribution sector or a similarly regulated environment
- Professional membership or progression toward a relevant body (for example, risk or assurance-related institutes)
