Senior Business Analyst
Job Description
The Senior Business Analyst supports digital design and delivery, acting as a key conduit between Cubic’s functional teams (Program Management, Engineering, Verification & Validation, Services, Training), customer stakeholders (NZTA and councils), and third‑party providers. The role clarifies requirements, identifies solutions aligned to product constraints, and supports defect triage and prioritisation using industry standard techniques (e.g. RICE, MoSCoW). It extracts, analyses, and reports business data to inform decisions and improve performance, driving the design and implementation of solutions to enhance business efficiency and optimise end‑to‑end processes.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities- Collaborate with Cubic Digital interfaces and cross‑functional teams (Engineering, V&V, Program Management, Services, Training) to deliver digital solutions within contractual cost, schedule, and performance requirements.
- Guide teams in requirements elaboration and solution design, ensuring alignment with stakeholders, technical constraints, and change processes.
- Manage client expectations by defining scope, documenting and clarifying requirements, and supporting project execution.
- Engage, coach, and provide functional leadership to project teams to deliver in line with schedules.
- Establish and maintain robust digital delivery processes, including requirements traceability, feedback loops, and progress reporting.
- Manage digital requirements across multiple projects in line with contracts, policies, and procedures.
- Elicit, document, analyse, trace, and manage business requirements, including gap analysis, validation, and sign‑off.
- Engage stakeholders to define, validate, and achieve consensus on business requirements and processes.
- Ensure solutions are aligned with technical and business needs to achieve user satisfaction.
- Identify, evaluate, and recommend solutions based on business and technical fit, supporting innovation and problem solving.
- Drive process improvement through workshops, requirement refinement, and corrective actions to prevent recurrence of issues.
- Coordinate delivery of scope to agreed deadlines and manage associated risks, including those relating to digital assets.
- Prepare and deliver performance reporting against SLAs and KPIs, including insights and analysis.
- Develop and maintain system documentation (specifications, processes, work instructions, training materials).
- Support the development of bids and proposals for new or expanded business.
- Comply with Cubic’s Quality Management System.
- Comply with Cubic Occupational Health, Safety and Environment policies and procedures.
- Comply with security in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Other duties as requested.
- University degree or equivalent in Project Management, Information Systems and Technology Management, Computer Science or other relevant discipline.
- 8+ years’ business analysis experience on complex technology projects with multiple stakeholders based remotely and in‑country.
- Strong data management capability.
- Knowledge and demonstrated experience working with AI solutions.
- Experience working across multiple functional deliverables (e.g. digital, infrastructure).
- Experience working with diverse stakeholders and managing conflicting priorities.
- Proven ability to manage and deliver multiple concurrent projects.
- Project management experience.
- Knowledge of Agile and traditional delivery methods.
- Experience in transportation/ticketing or similar industries (highly desirable).
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and planning skills, with the ability to meet deadlines.
- Experience in process development, reporting, and SLA/KPI management.
- Understanding of data migration, database reporting, and reporting tools.
- Proficiency in Jira, Confluence, and requirements/design management tools.
- Advanced skills using Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain highly technical and complex concepts clearly.
- Effective collaborator with the ability to build strong stakeholder relationships.
- Adaptable and comfortable working in changing environments.
- Ability to thrive in an environment where stakeholders are in remote locations across multiple timezones.
