Consultant Psychiatrist - Assertive Community Outreach Service

The primary purpose of this specialist psychiatric service is to provide clinical leadership and care to ACOS service users as part of a multidisciplinary team. Responsibilities include urgent and planned assessments, planning and delivering care and treatment within the context of patients' families.

The role requires presence on the SMO after‑hours on‑call roster. The position is full‑time (1 fte) with potential flexibility.

Assertive Community Outreach Service (ACOS) is a community mental health team across the Te Toka Tumai district. The team delivers responsive treatment to people who struggle to engage with mental health services and who present high risk. ACOS is based at the Pt Chevalier health campus, neighbouring other mental health teams. The multidisciplinary team is fully recruited and welcomes medical, nursing and other students.

Ideally, you will be vocally registered with the Medical Council of NewZealand, hold a current Annual Practising Certificate or be eligible for one. We will also consider locum tenens or those on a provisional vocational pathway. Experience of working collaboratively with clients, families and multidisciplinary teams in inpatient and community settings is essential.

• Postgraduate qualification in Psychiatry
• Vocational registration with the Medical Council of NewZealand as a Specialist
• Current MCNZ practising certificate
• Full driver's licence
