Job Description

Te Roopu Taurima is Aotearoa’s largest kaupapa Māori disability support services provider, supporting tāngata whaikaha and tāngata whaiora through services grounded in strong relationships, care, and safe, wellbeing‑led practice.

Location: Te Roopu Taurima Support Office, 650 Great South Road, Ellerslie 1051

\n

Hours of work: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday 08:30‑17:00

\nAbout the role\n

As our Health & Safety Business Partner, you’ll work across all parts of the organisation to support practical, consistent approaches to health, safety, and wellbeing. You’ll provide trusted advice on risk and safety matters, support sound decision‑making, and help ensure health and safety is embedded in planning and service delivery. You’ll also play a key role in incident response, system improvement, and ongoing learning across the organisation.

\nWhat you’ll be doing\n
    \n
  • Partner with leaders to embed health, safety, and wellbeing into planning, decision‑making, and everyday practice
  • \n
  • Provide trusted advice on complex risks and serious incidents, including supporting investigations and identifying practical improvements
  • \n
  • Use data and insight to identify trends, highlight emerging risks, and support informed decision‑making
  • \n
  • Support and strengthen health and safety systems, processes, reporting, audits, and engagement with regulators such as WorkSafe and ACC
  • \n
  • Build capability across leaders and Health and Safety representatives, providing guidance, reporting, and clear escalation of serious risk where needed
  • \n

You’re confident partnering at all levels of the organisation and comfortable having courageous conversations when safety matters. You take a practical, grounded approach and focus on people and workable solutions.

\nYou’ll bring\n
    \n
  • Experience in health and safety roles in complex, multi‑site environments
  • \n
  • Confidence working alongside senior leaders and influencing decision‑making
  • \n
  • Strong understanding of NZ health and safety legislation and good practice
  • \n
  • Experience supporting or leading incident investigations and risk management
  • \n
  • Ability to turn information into practical, meaningful action
  • \n
  • Calm and steady approach in serious or sensitive situations
  • \n
  • Strong communication skills and ability to build trusted relationships
  • \n
  • Commitment to working in a way that reflects tikanga Māori and our organisational values
  • \n
