Job Description

Seeking Consultant Psychiatrists for our four Adult Community Mental Health Services located across the Auckland Region (Manaaki House (Panmure), Cornwall House (Greenlane), Taylor Centre (Ponsonby) and Kainga Tiaki (Mt Eden)). Permanent, full‑time (40 hours per week), Monday to Friday, with flexibility available for the right candidate. Immigration support is provided for successful overseas candidates.

About the Role

Te Whatu Ora I Te Toka Tumai has four adult community mental health centres: Manaaki House (Panmure), Cornwall House (Greenlane), Taylor Centre (Ponsonby) and Kainga Tiaki (Mt Eden). We provide a range of high‑quality therapeutic programmes with a strong multi‑disciplinary focus. As a consultant psychiatrist, you will thrive in a vibrant, innovative and diverse multidisciplinary environment and have many opportunities to develop and specialise, receiving ongoing support and mentoring from highly experienced clinicians.

The community mental health teams provide a comprehensive range of therapeutic treatment options in collaboration with service users, their families, whānau and local communities. This is achieved through the assessment and management of the complex health needs of service users, with the provision of effectively planned episodic care that supports them to manage their overall healthcare needs, along with home‑based treatment options available.

About the Team / Service / Location

We are located close to the University of Auckland Medical School, providing the chance to become involved in the formal teaching programme and supervise medical students on placement. It is also possible to supervise and teach psychiatric trainees on the Auckland Registrar Training Scheme. Proximity to the university can bring opportunities for research collaboration.

We encourage and support the development of leadership skills in our consultant psychiatrists, and there will be opportunities to apply for formal leadership positions.
