Overview

Our Investments team is looking for an exceptional Principal Advisor, Investments. This role is full time, permanent and reports to the Manager, Investments. The opportunity is an exciting, fast‑paced environment where what we do has a positive impact on whānau Māori.

The Principal Advisor, Investments role offers the opportunity to contribute to the assessment, execution, and management of investment activity across a portfolio of funds focused on Māori economic development and housing. You’ll analyse investment proposals, support robust decision‑making processes, and help strengthen investment processes in line with best practice.

Working closely with internal teams and external partners, you’ll play a key role in monitoring performance, contributing to reporting on fund management and delivery, and ensuring investments deliver intended outcomes.

The likely appointment range is $124,242 – $138,046, based on skills and experience. The full salary range is $124,242 – $165,657 with a midpoint of $138,046.

Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you’ll be confident working independently while mentoring others. You’ll bring strong analytical skills and sound judgement, including the ability to assess the balance of risk and opportunity, with experience evaluating investment proposals and business cases using financial and operational data. You’ll be a clear and effective writer, and comfortable working with performance and financial information to support reporting on fund management and outcomes. Experience delivering government grants or other relevant investment experience would be advantageous.

You will be comfortable working in a te ao Māori environment and have a high level of understanding of the machinery of Government, public service and public sector processes that ensure the impartiality of Public Servants. You will also have an understanding of the Treaty of Waitangi / Te Tiriti o Waitangi and recognise the importance of the Treaty/Tiriti from both Māori and Crown perspectives.
