We are looking for a Senior Seismic Restraint Engineer (Structural or Mechanical background) to join our well‐established team, working on meaningful projects that make a real difference to the safety and performance of the built environment.This is a hands‐on, delivery‐focused role where you will be involved from early planning through to construction. You will take ownership of your work, apply sound engineering judgement, and work closely with contractors and delivery partners to achieve practical, high‐quality outcomes.In this role, you will: Take technical ownership of seismic restraint projects, delivering solutions from concept through to site implementation. Work on complex, high‐impact projects across healthcare, education and other critical infrastructure. Lead coordination with contractors, subcontractors and trades to ensure buildable, effective restraint solutions. Apply your engineering judgement across projects of varying scale and complexity, ensuring non‐structural elements perform as intended during seismic events. Collaborate across disciplines, contributing to integrated project outcomes. Support and mentor less experienced team members, sharing knowledge and helping build capability within the team. Build trusted relationships with clients and delivery partners, representing Beca professionally on projects. Contribute to safe delivery, quality outcomes and the ongoing resilience of New Zealand’s built environment.Ko wai koe | About youThis role will suit you if you are a Structural or Mechanical Engineer, or have equivalent practical experience, with a strong interest in seismic restraint design for building services, ceilings, partitions or other non‐structural elements.You will bring: A minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience, gained in consulting, construction or a site‐based environment. Experience in, or a strong desire to further develop, capability in seismic restraint analysis and design, including familiarity with New Zealand standards such as NZS1170.5 and NZS4219. A practical, delivery‐focused mindset and enjoyment in seeing designs successfully implemented on site. The confidence to take responsibility for your work, make sound technical decisions, and support others as part of a high‐performing team. Strong communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships with clients, contractors and colleagues.
