About the RoleAs a Consultant Adult Community Psychiatrist, you will:
- Provide comprehensive psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning for adults with moderate to severe mental health conditions.
- Work collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team to support recovery‑focused care.
- Provide clinical leadership and contribute to service development initiatives.
- Support supervision and teaching of junior medical staff and contribute to continuing professional development within the team.
- Maintain high standards of clinical service, risk management, and quality improvement.
The Adult Community Mental Health Team provides specialist secondary mental health care to adults from the age of 18 across the Marlborough region. We are committed to delivering recovery‑focused, person‑centred care that supports whaiora and their whānau within the community.
Our service works collaboratively with primary care, NGO partners, inpatient services, addiction services, and cultural support providers to ensure integrated and equitable mental health care.
Our multidisciplinary team includes Medical Officers, Clinical Psychologists, Occupational Therapists, Registered Nurses and Social Workers, and employment specialists, committed to early intervention, holistic care, and continuous service improvement to achieve the best possible outcomes for the community.

About you- You hold Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists, or equivalent.
- You are eligible for an Annual Practising Certificate and vocational registration of Psychiatry with the Medical Council of New Zealand.
- You have experience in consult‑liaison psychiatry (preferred but not essential).
- You demonstrate commitment to continuing medical education and professional development.
- You are collegial and collaborate across all disciplines to provide successful services to our patients and community.
