ABOUT THE ROLE\n

SPCA is one of New Zealand's most trusted charities, working to improve animal welfare and advocate for animals in need. Every purchase and donation made through our Op Shops helps fund this important work. That's why we're looking for an experienced and motivated Op Shop Manager to lead one of our retail stores. This is an exciting opportunity to combine your retail leadership skills with a meaningful cause, driving sales, supporting volunteers, and creating an exceptional shopping experience that helps improve the lives of animals across New Zealand.

  • Tuesday to Saturday 8:45am-5:15pm
  • \n
\nKey Responsibilities\n
    \n
  • Lead the day-to-day operation and performance of the Op Shop, driving sales and creating an outstanding customer experience.
  • \n
  • Manage merchandising, stock control, pricing and promotional displays to maximise sales.
  • \n
  • Lead, train, and support a team of volunteers, fostering a positive and productive environment.
  • \n
  • Build strong relationships with donors, customers and the local community to grow support for the store.
  • \n
  • Oversee cash handling, banking, reporting and store administration using retail systems and technology.
  • \n
  • Ensure the store operates safely and in line with SPCA policies, procedures and health and safety standards.

\nABOUT YOU\n

You're an experienced retail leader who enjoys motivating people, achieving sales targets and creating outstanding customer experiences. You know how to balance commercial performance with people leadership and take pride in building a positive team culture where team and volunteers feel supported and valued.

\nWhat we're looking for\n
    \n
  • Retail management experience (second‑hand retail advantageous).
  • \n
  • Proven ability to achieve sales and revenue targets.
  • \n
  • Experience leading, coaching and developing teams (volunteers advantageous)
  • \n
  • Strong merchandising and stock management skills.
  • \n
  • Exceptional customer service and relationship‑building skills.
  • \n
  • Confident managing cash handling, banking and financial reporting.\n
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office, email and retail POS systems.
  • \n
  • Highly organised with excellent planning and time management skills.
  • \n
  • Full, clean New Zealand driver's licence.
  • \n
  • A genuine commitment to the values and mission of SPCA.
  • \n
