Job Description
To be part of our growth in the region, we are looking for a Senior Engineering Geologist or Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join us in Hamilton. This role will have a focus on geotechnical asset management.
Responsibilities- Apply knowledge and judgment to plan and deliver projects.
- Produce plans, reports, proposals and specifications to meet client requirements.
- Direct and undertake desk‑based assessments of sites or site areas, including studies of aerial photographs, research and review of published data, to guide investigation and design for projects.
- Scope and manage field investigations, including commissioning of drilling crews and organising laboratory testing to expand the understanding of a site or region or as a basis for hazard or risk evaluation.
- Direct field investigations including field mapping, direction of drilling crews, detailed logging of boreholes, sampling and monitoring, hand augering and logging of test pits.
- Develop 2D and 3D ground models using available data to inform problem definition and design.
- Undertake computer‑aided data analysis and evaluation, e.g. slope stability modelling.
- Carry out field reconnaissance of sites featuring natural hazards through scheduled inspections or in response to slips, provide advice and develop designs for remediation solutions, working closely with the client to meet their objectives.
- Present technical deliverables through clear written and oral communication.
- Work on projects from inception to completion, scoping, planning and resourcing effectively to deliver to programme and budget.
- Lead and manage multi‑disciplinary teams across packages.
- Build strong internal and external relationships and assist senior members of the business to secure additional business opportunities.
- Qualified Engineering Geologist (preferably with a relevant postgraduate qualification) or Geotechnical Engineer with passion and good problem‑solving skills.
- Recently completed a graduate programme in a similar consulting or contracting environment.
