\nAbout the Role\nWe are seeking a psychiatrist to join our highly skilled multi-disciplinary Early Psychosis Intervention Team (EPIT).
\nPermanent Part Time role (up to 0.8 FTE).
\nThis position is a Core Children's worker under the Children's Act & requires full safety checks to be completed before any new employee starts.
\nSalary range per ASMS Senior Medical Officer MECA Step 1- Step 15 ($185,380 - $267,980) depending on experience and qualification.

\nIn your new role, you will:\n- \n
- Utilise a comprehensive skillset informed by Early Intervention Principles. \n
- Contribute to the clinical leadership of the team. \n
- Be based primarily at our Springs Road site in East Tamaki. \n
- Engage in weekly interface liaison meetings with Tiaho Mai (our award‑winning acute inpatient unit) via videoconference, for clients receiving inpatient care. \n
- Engage in community‑based assessments in peoples homes, to ensure engagement and collaborative care planning with family/whanau supports. \n
Working in the vibrant and culturally diverse community of South Auckland, our innovative team provides specialised assessment and interventions for young adults (<30 years) who are experiencing a first episode of psychosis.
\nWhilst the EPIT service primarily provides specialist mental health interventions for those with a first episode of psychosis, we also provide early intervention for those presenting with an At‑Risk Mental State and provide consultation and liaison for our primary care partners for those with mild to moderate concerns.
\nThe team has a well‑established model of care. It employs a full multi‑disciplinary approach, incorporating AOD, Vocational, and Peer‑Support specialists within the team alongside senior nursing and allied health roles.
\nEPIT collaborates with primary healthcare providers and various community‑based mental health services to provide both general and specialised knowledge and supervision in early psychosis intervention. The team also organises group programmes, including co‑facilitated sessions with community mental health services and access to cultural groups, all integral to the EPIT model.
\nAbout you\nYou will have:

- Comprehensive experience of modern psychiatric practice in a Community Mental Health setting. \n
- Preferably know Early Intervention or Youth Mental Health approaches. \n
- Passion for working in a collaborative and team‑based approach. \n
- Skills in working with diverse population groups, including Maori, Pacific and refugee populations. \n
- Eligibility to register in a Vocational Scope with the New Zealand Medical Council (eligibility for registration can be checked via this link). \n
- Hold a current Annual Practising Certificate with the New Zealand Medical Council. \n
