We have an exciting opportunity for a Centre Manager to lead our team in Mangere, our largest Centre in Aotearoa. Even more exciting, we are close to moving this site to a beautiful, purpose-built site in Wiri and we couldn’t be happier!

Our current Mangere/future Wiri Centre is a hive of activity where every day is dedicated to animal welfare, community connection and making a real difference.

\nABOUT THE ROLE\n

You will manage all aspects of the day to day running of the Centre which includes leadership, animal welfare, financial management, property maintenance, compliance and community.

\n

You will work alongside our Inspectorate Team to support investigations and prosecutions and aligning our Centre capacity with their workload. You will partner with our National Support Teams to ensure consistency, best practice and expertise is utilised.

\n

You will partner with our Community Engagement teams on managing and building our Volunteer and Foster networks, fundraising initiatives and building connections with the local community while raising brand awareness.

\n

You will inspire a culture of compassion and excellence, empower both staff and volunteers to deliver outstanding care and service and drive continuous improvement in this broad and hands‑on role.

  • Proven leadership experience – in a complex, operational environment with a track record of managing performance, capability development and employee engagement.

  • A big picture thinker and operational management skills - to oversee and enhance daily shelter operations while understanding risk, compliance and resource allocation.
  • \n
  • Financial acumen - to manage budgets and ensure cost‑effective operations.
  • \n
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills - to build credibility and trust internally and with community, partners, and the public.

  • Strong influencing ability - across functions, builds partnerships and achieves outcomes.
