The Role

MinterEllisonRuddWatts is seeking a talented Solicitor to join our highly regarded Construction & Infrastructure team. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated transactional lawyer to develop their skills and career working on major projects across New Zealand and beyond.

The role is part of our Transactional team, who advises key industry participants on all aspects of the planning, procurement, tendering and delivery of major projects and works programmes. You will work closely with our partners and senior lawyers, supporting an impressive, growing client base that includes central and local government, listed companies, financial institutions and private businesses.

The projects span a broad range of infrastructure and commercial sectors, including transport, energy, utilities, and large-scale office, residential, retail and industrial developments.

What You Will Do

  • Work as part of project teams advising clients in both the private and public sectors on significant construction and infrastructure transactions
  • Assist in the drafting, review and negotiation of construction and infrastructure contracts across a range of standard and bespoke forms (including NZS 3910 and other industry-standard agreements)
  • Conduct research and provide well-reasoned advice on transactional and regulatory matters
  • Assist with procurement structures, tendering processes and risk allocation advice on major project delivery
  • Work directly with clients and their project teams under the supervision and guidance of partners and senior lawyers
  • Collaborate with and support fellow members of a strong, committed team of solicitors

About You

You will be an intellectually sharp and commercially astute lawyer who is eager to develop your expertise in a leading construction and infrastructure practice. You will bring:

  • 1 - 3 years' PQE in transactional or advisory work, ideally in construction, infrastructure, or commercial practice areas involving complex contract review and preparation
  • Sound drafting skills and a keen attention to detail
  • A proactive approach and the ability to manage your own workload effectively under supervision
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with a genuine desire to build client relationships
