# Ophthalmologist at Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora Te Tai Tokerau, Northland## Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About this role* **Whangarei, Northland, New Zealand*** Permanent full-time positionHealth New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is firmly grounded in the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and is committed to building a health system that serves all New Zealanders.About the RoleWe are looking for an experienced Specialist with a sub-speciality interest to join our busy, innovative and close-knit team in delivering Ophthalmology care to our community in Te Tai Tokerau. We are committed to providing high quality services across our region bringing a diversity of Ophthalmological care as close to the community as possible. Cataract surgery forms a staple part of services provided so it is essential candidates interested in joining our team have this experience as well as contributing to the consultant on-call roster (1:5).This role involves working with a diverse patient population, including children.

As such, candidates with paediatric ophthalmology experience or a demonstrated interest in working with children are strongly preferred. The successful candidate will play a key role in assessing, diagnosing, and supporting treatment plans while ensuring a positive and reassuring experience for young patients and their families.Click here to view the position description.About the LocationAs well as a warm climate, the "winterless north" offers excellent schools; affordable housing and scenic coastal areas offering a range of recreational activities.
