The RoleHealth New ZealandTe Whatu Ora Counties Manukau is seeking an experienced and culturally grounded Clinical Nurse Specialist to join our Te Kaahui Ora Māori Health team. This is a unique opportunity to lead and influence care for whānau with complex health and social needs while advancing health equity across our communities.
In this position, you will lead initiatives designed to support Māori patients to navigate their health journey, creating pathways that are both clinically and culturally safe. You will work in partnership with a supportive team of kaimanaaki to coordinate care for those who have high health and social needs, ensuring the provision of our values – manaakitanga, kotahitanga, whanaungatanga, and rangatiratanga.
As a key contributor to Counties Manukau's mission of enhancing health equity for Māori, you will play a pivotal role in building the capability of Māori nurses and improving the responsiveness of the healthcare system to the diverse needs of Māori whānau and communities.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the development of strategies that support Māori patients to remain on their designated health pathways.
- Build strong, collaborative relationships to ensure culturally safe and responsive care is delivered.
- Work closely with a supportive team and collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide the best care possible.
- Contribute to the ongoing professional development of others, enhancing their ability to deliver culturally appropriate care.
- NZ Registered Nurse with a current Annual Practicing Certificate.
- Minimum 5+ years relevant clinical experience in NZ.
- Proven experience working with patients with complex health and social needs within an acute setting.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- A Postgraduate Diploma (or similar) with a commitment to completing a Master of Nursing.
- Basic Te Reo on Tikanga, with a commitment to advance knowledge.
- Contribute to long term transformation for whānau and communities across Counties Manukau.
