Maxillofacial Surgeon

We are seeking an experienced Consultant Maxillofacial Surgeon to join our Maxillofacial Surgery service at Christchurch Hospital. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to a broad range of Maxillofacial services while working within a highly collaborative multidisciplinary environment.

• Provide high-quality clinical care across outpatient clinics, operating theatre sessions, acute and on-call responsibilities, and inpatient services.
• Participate in a 1:3 on-call roster, delivering equitable, patient-focused care aligned with best‑practice principles.
• Contribute to education, research and service improvement initiatives.
• Teach and support Registrars, House Officers, Medical Students, Nursing staff, and Allied Health professionals, fostering continuous learning.

The Maxillofacial Surgery service at Christchurch Hospital provides specialist care for patients throughout Canterbury and surrounding regions. You will be joining a supportive team committed to delivering excellent patient outcomes while fostering innovation, education and service development. • Registered with both the Dental Council of New Zealand and the Medical Council of New Zealand (or eligible for registration).
• Expertise across general Maxillofacial Surgery.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
• Commitment to education, quality improvement, research and ongoing professional development.
• Ability to work effectively in a complex environment and prioritize clinical workload.
• Patient‑centred approach and commitment to achieving equitable healthcare outcomes.
