About the RoleWe are seeking a Specialist Neurologist to join our team at Christchurch Hospital on a permanent part-time basis. This role offers a broad and rewarding clinical scope, including outpatient clinics, inpatient care, and acute/afterhours services on a rostered basis. Outpatient clinics are primarily general neurology, with the opportunity to develop subspecialty clinics by agreement with the Clinical Director. A subspecialty interest in Functional Neurological Disorders and/or Stroke would be an advantage, although this is not essential. You will also participate in the supervision of neurology junior medical staff and have opportunities to contribute to teaching, research, and ongoing service development.
About the Team / Service / LocationYou will join a team of seven experienced Neurologists based at Christchurch Hospital. The Neurology service is an accredited centre with the Australian and New Zealand Association of Neurologists for advanced training in Neurology. We enjoy close working relationships with our Neurosurgical colleagues and are the major centre for the South Island Neurosurgical Service. Christchurch Hospital also provides the only interventional neuroradiology service in the South Island. About YouTo be considered for this role, you will: Hold Fellowship or equivalent specialist qualifications in Neurology; Be eligible for vocational registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand; Have experience in general neurology and acute inpatient care; Have a collaborative approach to multidisciplinary teamwork; Demonstrate a commitment to teaching, quality improvement, and equitable healthcare outcomes.
