Job Description
A Nurse Practitioner also operates within the team and Psychiatric Registrars complete placement rotations within the team also. This role is one of many Consultant Psychiatrists within the wider MH&A Service in Taranaki, a group which meets weekly for clinical, educational, business and governance purposes all while providing support to each other and building strong collegial relationships. There is an on-call requirement which is shared amongst all Consultant Psychiatrists, but this is supported with a first on-call roster of Psychiatric Registrars.Please click here to view the position descriptionAbout the Team/Service/ LocationThe Mental Health & Addiction Services provides a wide range of specialist services: Acute Services: 23 bed inpatient unit (4 beds in IPC), Assessment & Brief Care team and a Co-Response Team consisting of a MH Clinician (DAO), Kaimahi Maori and Police officer Community Adult Mental health: 2 community teams, Tui Ora kaupapa Maori community mental health team and specialist services such as maternal, eating disorders, and early intervention. Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services. Mental Health Services for Older people. Alcohol and Drugs Intensive Rehabilitation residence - on site, 4 bed facility which provides therapeutic groups during the day for outpatients and residents.For more information on living and working in Taranaki click hereAbout youAs part of the MHAS Adult service, you will be expected to: Provide consultant services to people requiring specialist care Perform Responsible Clinician functions under the Mental Health Act including second opinions Interact daily with other departments. Mentor junior medical staff and teach medical students attached to the service.* Have the ability to work in a range of settings i.e.
inpatient, outpatient and community settings inclusive of crisis work. Cover for colleagues in their absence.
