What We WantOur client is seeking a Consulting Engineer with a background in industrial automation or a Senior Industrial Automation Engineer looking to move into consultancy to join their specialist team delivering advisory services for international airport projects across Australasia.
About the RoleWorking closely with clients, contractors, and project stakeholders, you will contribute to the successful delivery of airport infrastructure and automation projects. The role involves both office-based technical work and onsite activities at airports throughout Australasia. You will be part of a collaborative team spread across multiple cities, so the ability to work independently, communicate effectively, and build strong client relationships is essential.
Key Responsibilities- Assist with conceptual system design and preparation of technical specifications
- Review contractor technical submissions for compliance with project requirements and industry standards
- Monitor compliance with applicable codes, QA/QC policies, performance standards, and specifications
- Liaise directly with clients to understand requirements and provide technical representation on their behalf
- Conduct onsite testing and commissioning activities, including acceptance testing at airports
- Coordinate and monitor project activities including budgets, schedules, performance, and reporting
- Collaborate with project leads and stakeholders to provide technical support and project assistance
To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline
- Experience in project engineering, preferably within baggage handling systems, industrial automation, or a similar industry
- Knowledge of industrial control systems and their interaction with mechanical equipment
- Experience with CAD and engineering tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, and BIM
- Familiarity with automation technologies including PLCs and SCADA systems
- Understanding of industrial communication and field network systems such as Ethernet/IP, AS-i, and ProfiNet
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail
- The ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a strong client-focused approach
