Psychiatry Non Training Registrar, Nelson Hospital (February 2027)

Psychiatry Registrar (Non Training) with Nelson Hospital. Permanent full-time position (1.0FTE). Hours 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM Monday to Friday. On‑call overnight 4:30 PM to 8:30 AM and weekend 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM Friday night to Monday morning.

• Assist with psychiatric consultation and referrals to mental health professionals.
• Provide outpatient and inpatient assessment and treatment.
• Develop working relationships with multidisciplinary team members.
• Attend weekly training opportunities.
• Create and implement ethical care plans.

• MBChB or equivalent with a minimum of one year of house surgeon experience.
• Clean full driver’s licence.
• Eligibility to work in NewZealand or possession of a valid NewZealand visa at the time of application.

Nelson Hospital provides mental health and addiction services, including adult general psychiatry, addictions, child and youth and older persons. The region has two inpatient units and multiple community outpatient teams that provide acute and routine care.
