About the Role

Casual contract based at Northern Regional Radiation Oncology serving Te Toka Tumai (Auckland City Hospital) and Te Tai Tokerau (Whangārei Hospital) in a modern oncology facility. The Radiation Oncology Service is part of Te Pūriri o Te Ora Cancer & Blood Services at Auckland City Hospital, a large, internationally recognised cancer centre. The service will expand to multiple campuses, including a new radiation oncology department in Whangārei by mid‑2026. The successful applicant will join a team of 23 Radiation Oncologists and be responsible for one or more sub‑specialty areas of interest.

Responsibilities

Provide comprehensive radiation treatment programmes including Paediatric Radiation Oncology, Brachytherapy, and Stereotactic Ablative Radiotherapy. Deliver high‑quality, multidisciplinary care in collaboration with medical oncologists, haematologists, and other allied health professionals. Contribute to clinical trials, research initiatives and quality improvement projects within the department.

About You / Qualifications

Applications are invited from Medical Practitioners who hold the Fellowship of the RANZCR Faculty of Radiation Oncology and vocational registration in Radiation Oncology with the NZMC, or are eligible for such registration. Essential experience includes:

  • Sub‑specialty treatment in any of the following tumour streams: Breast, Lung, GU, GI, Haematology, and Palliative RT.
  • Proficiency in VMAT, IGRT, and other advanced techniques.
  • Desirable experience with SABR.

A strong academic record, broad clinical experience, and interest in research are required. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team and to contribute to improvement initiatives is essential.
