About the role

This 12‑month fixed‑term contract offers a true generalist opportunity, combining day‑to‑day HR and ER partnering with leadership and delivery of key People and Capability strategic projects and initiatives. This role also has a specialist element and will play a key role in implementing our People pillars and projects that impact the whole business.

Responsibilities

Here is what you could be involved with on any given day:

  • Develop and own the company employment relations strategy
  • Lead business partners and people leaders to effectively manage employment relations matters
  • Build Industrial Relations strategy, contribute to Collective Bargaining and develop and lead the Union Engagement Plan
  • Contribute to the delivery of an organisation‑wide ER and therefore People strategy linked support model and the adjacent people policy development
  • Coach and upskill People Leaders and other Business Partners in effective and compliant employee relations management, supporting our people, managing risk and minimising escalation
  • Play a key role in the team managing day‑to‑day employee issues effectively and in line with NZ employment legislation and best practice
About you

We’re looking for someone who loves building relationships and getting meaningful work done. In this role you will bring:

  • Significant experience with NZ employment law and good faith practices
  • Excellent stakeholder and relationship management
  • Strong People leader coaching exposure, including working with senior leaders
  • Generalist HR partner or management experience (ideally 10+ years)
  • ER and IR experience
  • Risk analysis and management
Desired skills and experience
  • ER Business Partner role or similar position
  • Partnering experience with senior leaders, being an active member of their leadership team
  • Experience with Employment Relations, including an understanding of employment legislation and complex cases
  • Experience working cross‑functionally and delivering projects in collaboration with different business units
  • Employment law experience either in‑house or external
  • Ideally experience leading collective bargaining
