CORE50 is looking for an experienced Structural Engineer to step into a senior technical leadership role within our growing consultancy. This role is about more than design delivery.

\n

We are looking for someone who has been through the full consultancy journey, someone who understands technical risk, can lead projects properly, check work thoroughly, mentor engineers, and consistently deliver quality outcomes with minimal errors. Over the next few years, this role is intended to become a key part of our long-term succession planning within the business.

\nAbout The Role\n

You will play a senior role within the business across technical delivery, project leadership, checking, mentoring, and client engagement.

\n

The role includes:

\n
    \n
  • Delivering high-quality structural engineering design and documentation
  • \n
  • Acting as senior reviewer/checker for engineering work
  • \n
  • Identifying and managing structural and commercial risks on projects
  • \n
  • Mentoring intermediate and junior engineers
  • \n
  • Leading projects from concept through to construction
  • \n
  • Working directly with clients, architects, builders, and councils
  • \n
  • Helping maintain and improve technical standards across the business
  • \n
  • Supporting sustainable long-term growth of the company
  • \n
\n

This role would suit someone who enjoys responsibility, takes pride in getting jobs right, and understands the importance of practical, commercially aware engineering.

\nWhat we're looking for:\n
    \n
  • BE (Civil or Structural Engineering)
  • \n
  • Strong New Zealand consultancy experience
  • \n
  • Experience leading and delivering structural projects independently
  • \n
  • Strong understanding of NZ Building Code and relevant standards
  • \n
  • Experience in timber, steel, and concrete design
  • \n
  • Strong communication and coordination skills
  • \n
  • Ability to review work critically and identify risks early
  • \n
  • Proven ability to manage projects and clients professionally
  • \n
\nPreferred\n
    \n
  • CPEng preferred, or working towards registration. Strong practical consultancy experience will also be considered for the right candidate.

  • Previous experience mentoring engineers
  • \n
  • Experience acting as checker/reviewer
  • \n
  • Residential and commercial project experience
  • \n
  • Experience managing project delivery and workflow
