About the role

The NZ Police Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Business Unit is seeking to appoint a Technical Delivery Manager – Geospatial for a fixed‑term role in the Corporate Products Group, based at 1 Walton Leigh, Porirua. This role focuses on delivering reliable, accessible ICT solutions that enhance officer safety and enable timely decision‑making across the police organisation.

Key responsibilities

As a Technical Delivery Manager – Geospatial you will lead the end‑to‑end delivery of complex geospatial initiatives, working across ICT, business teams and external partners to deliver fit‑for‑purpose solutions that meet operational needs.

  • ArcGIS Enterprise Re‑architecture – modernising Police's core geospatial platform
  • SAR Incident Management System (IMS) MVP – delivering a new integrated SAR capability
  • OnCall Data Mapping Services – enabling next‑generation dispatch mapping services
  • Lead and coordinate end‑to‑end delivery of geospatial initiatives
  • Manage delivery planning, timelines, risks, issues and dependencies
  • Coordinate cross‑functional teams including ICT, business stakeholders, vendors and partners
  • Establish and maintain agile delivery practices (e.g. Scrum, Kanban)
  • Engage stakeholders and provide clear reporting and communication at all levels
  • Ensure delivery meets scope, quality and compliance expectations
  • Oversee development of technical documentation and handover artefacts
  • Drive continuous improvement through post‑implementation reviews
What you’ll bring
  • Proven experience delivering complex ICT or geospatial programmes, ideally in the public sector
  • Strong understanding of geospatial technologies (e.g. ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Online)
  • Experience with cloud platforms, system integration and enterprise architecture
  • Demonstrated capability leading multi‑disciplinary delivery teams
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
  • Experience working with vendors and managing delivery partners
  • Knowledge of data governance, quality assurance and change management practices
  • Familiarity with agile delivery methodologies and tools (e.g. Scrum, Kanban, JIRA)
  • Relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience in GIS, IT or a related field
Special requirements

Some travel may be required to engage with staff at the Police National Headquarters (PNHQ) or with districts and stakeholders.

The successful applicant will undergo full background, reference and security checks prior to appointment.

Salary

This position is covered by a collective agreement and salary will commence from $142,124, dependent on skills and experience relevant to the role.
